Presenting new works developed during our AA2A (Artists’ Access to Art Schools) placements at Plymouth University we employed diverse media and materials to explore individual concerns clustered under the exhibition title “Edge of Collapse”.
For this show I produced a new suite of works entitled ‘friends of magic | agents of change’ in clay & cloth informed by my curiosity with materials and how they behave. Teasing and testing materials to make objects that seem to teeter on the edge of collapse. Whilst making these pieces I was reflecting on the idea of ‘grace under pressure’. I intend these sculptural forms to operate on a visceral level and they have been described as ‘delicious yet disturbing’.
